Its All About Autumn Layering
I don’t know about you but this Autumn seems to have come hard and fast. The temperature has definitely dropped here in the UK, the wind has got up and we’re getting immediately more rain.
Some years at Urban Industry we panic with receiving our heavy winter pieces in July and August. This year we’ve timed deliveries to perfection with some of those key lines arriving only a couple of weeks ago.. So.. We’re ready to get at it.
Let’s talk about layering. A pretty simple and well trodden path to looking good and now staying warm with a combination of different pieces from your wardrobe and our latest pages. In store we’re stocked up with some perfect warmth trapping items, both from the tech outdoor, the soft outdoor side of things and the more traditional menswear and streetwear directions.
We’ve got Ethan here on the case with 3 distinct outfit selections to give some excellent layering ideas for early in the season.
First up we’ve picked out the Norse Projects Standard Half Zip Sweatshirt and set it with the light weight TAION Crew Neck Button Down Jacket. We’d probably run a premium white Urban Industry T-shirt under that for a perfect and somewhat ‘smart’, 3 layered look that will definitely keep the wind chill off. The Taion outer layer doubles down with the wind protection and its lightweight down and feather filling. The trousers are the Beam+ Pleated Pants and the Paraboot Michael Shoes to finish off.
Second up we’ve pair up some classic and directional streetwear with the new OBEY Workman Zip Jacket, a classic boxy cut zip up jacket with a really nice ‘crinkle wash’ over the hardwearing denim fabric. Another piece thats caught our eye is from the Korean brand, FrizmWORKS. The FrizmWORKS Kangaroo Round Pullover Knit has all the hallmarks of a classic ribbed knit pullover but with the nice detail of a kangaroo thru pocket, a great point of difference. We’ve paired this warm layered out fit with some Stan Ray Wide 5 Pants
Finally we've got this outdoor tech fit, if you saw our newsletter last Sunday you'll know all about "soft outdoor" styling and this is a perfect example of an outfit that'll absolutely do its job on an outdoor excursion but looks just as good in the city. We layered this incredible Snow Peak Thermo Control Pullover on top of a basic tee, the lightweight fleece material adds a visual texture to the fit, whilst regulating your temperature nicely. This piece uses the ‘Fabric Du Jour’, the 136 g/m² Polartec Alpha Direct. Polartec® Alpha™ is a high-performance “active insulation” fabric engineered to dynamically regulate body heat during changing exertion levels and environmental conditions. Its core structure combines lofted fibers and an open mesh interior, enabling warmth retention when needed and enhanced airflow when you generate heat. Basically, it’s the new super tech fabric that you will be seeing a lot more of from the premium outdoor brands.
Then over the top is a classic Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket, an outdoor staple that ticks all the boxes for a warm, lightweight, layer. We finished the whole fit off with a pair of Straight Fit Gramicci Pants and the Satisfy Rocker Shoes
