Trainers & Sneakers

There is no real difference. Trainers is the British term and sneakers the American one for casual sports-style shoes. Our trainers collection covers heritage runners, classic indoor and football styles, canvas and skate shoes, and lifestyle versions of performance running shoes.

New Balance makes a Made in England line at its factory in Flimby, Cumbria, including versions of the 991 and 920. These use premium suede and leather and are among the most sought-after New Balance trainers. Check the product title for Made in England when browsing.

Most New Balance and Karhu trainers fit true to UK size for the majority of customers, although some models are available in wider fittings and others run slightly narrow. Check the sizing notes on each product page, and if you are between sizes, sizing up half a size is usually the safer choice.

Yes. Canvas trainers are light, breathable and easy to wear with almost anything, which makes them ideal for spring and summer. Novesta's Star Master and Star Dribble are handmade in Slovakia with natural rubber soles, and Vans Authentic and Old Skool are skate classics. They are less weatherproof than leather or suede, so save them for drier days.
