A cosy Chat about Haglofs Down Jackets

Just wanted to drop a little piece about Haglöfs, why they’re a perfect fit for Urban Industry, and what we’re really excited about in the latest collection we’ve pulled together.

You might remember when we last dug into Haglöfs over on the blog (The Haglöfs Edit - humble beginnings to outdoorwear pioneers)  that story of a Swedish carpenter, a sewing machine, and the urge to build something that just wouldn’t quit. Since then, Haglöfs has only grown more interesting to us, both in what they make and how they think.

We’ve stocked Haglöfs for a number of years now at Urban Industry because it sits nicely in that crossroad where practical outdoors meets city life, where you want gear that can do a hike and pull off the streets without feeling try-hard. Their jackets, their layering pieces, their approach to materials, it’s all about balance.

Take this Hede Down Jacket. The colour on point for the season, the cut is just right for Out, Out or just in and around your local neighbourhood.  The ‘H’ Stitched baffles prevent the fully traceable down filling from moving around and bulking up where you don’t need it. Premium Pertex® Quantum ripstop (recycled) is the outer face fabric, its full tech without the weight. Ive twinned it with the Black Hede Down Vest, doubled down warm comfort for the coldest days.

They push tech, but they don’t lose the soul. We’re also big fans of their commitment to sustainability, functionality, and clean design. Haglöfs has long committed to low-impact materials, renewable energy, and reducing emissions over time, qualities we value deeply in what we bring to you.

When I visited the Haglofs office in the Lake District almost this time last year to place this AW order I was really into the colour matching and blending of the key pieces. Ive selected all the items to work together. If you check our Haglofs page we’ve got a controlled selection of down, fleece and Gore-Tex waterproofs and well as a full selection of the brands famous ’Tight’ range of bags. I’ve gone for a few pieces of each in the Chalk (matching up with the Hede Down Jacket) and the classic black. The quality of each of these pieces is fantastic.  High grade recycled polyesters, all hardwearing and designed in a way only the Swedish could!

For us, they are a perfect fit. You’ll see the Gore-Tex shells, insulated layers, clever layering options, but also lighter picks that move well when you’re not in full expedition mode. It’s the kind of gear we’re happy to back, because when you try it, we know you’ll feel that difference.

If you haven’t yet, give our Beachy Head / Lighthouse hike journal post from 2022 a read, it’s one of those under-the-radar places where gear shows what it’s capable of, even when the forecast is unpredictable. That’s exactly the kind of space we think Haglöfs thrives in: not just on peaks, but in between, where your commute meets cold winds meets possibility.
