They don't come much bigger than working with the world's first and best known 'streetwear' brand. Stussy for me is truly iconic and a true inspiration for starting Urban Industry 10 years ago.
10 years later it's amazing to say that we have a collaboration t-shirt with Stussy.
We've stocked Stussy for some 7 years now and its become one of my favourite brand appointments, for checking the new season designs and to catch up with the Michael, Chiara and Mary-Jane, the team that have been distributing Stussy in the UK since day one. Always professional and a joy to work with.
When we found out about the t-shirt we asked various people in the industry, who they might chose to design it. London based illustrator and designer Mark Ward came highly recommended. Mark has a depth work with commissions for Nike, adidas, Burton and Stussy to name a few, he was the perfect choice.
Marks super clean illustrative style was perfect for making a Stussy style design. With a brief to connect our store on the South Coast of England with the vibrant west coast of the USA where Stussy was born the crossed ice cream design seemed very apt. From 'South Coast to the West Coast' the chocolate flake to the cherry, we couldn't have been happier with the design that Mark came up with. Happily, by crossing the two ice creams it makes the Roman numeral 'X' or 10.
