For almost 140 years Helly Hansen has been developing professional grade clothing for keeping people alive in the harshest of conditions. Helly Hansen developed their first jackets to protect sailors from the worst the Norwegian elements could muster, Captain Juell Hansen and his wife Margrethe launched the business producing waterproof oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil.  Today Helly Hansen produce some of the most robust clothing for Sailors, Skiers, Mountaineers and tough work wear.
