What We Wore

March 10, 2014

This was floating around the usual spots last week so apologies if you’ve already seen it. For those of you that haven’t, it’s definitely worth checking out What We Wore, an online archive of post-war British style down through the ages. In their own words “What We Wore is a project initiated by ISYS ARCHIVE to create a people's style history of Britain from 1950 to the present day. It's about people and their personal stories: why they wore what they did, and what it meant for them”. I love going through street style archives and this project reminds me of the rather excellent ‘Where Were You?’ book that covered my beloved Dublin’s street style from 1950-2000. The What We Wore website is open for submissions and the final project will come to fruition as a full-scale exhibition and accompanying book published by Prestel in Autumn 2014.
