My Favourite release of the year was a totally new shoe from Nike, the Solarsoft Mocassin. It slipped under the radar well and truly with a mainline release, I’d even forgotten that I’d ordered it. Using a Nike flip flop sole unit they created a super soft suede upper with touches of tanned leather at the heel and the woven detail line running right the way round the show to give it that moc shape. The perfect summer shoe with a smart approach I just wish they would make some more!
Publish has been my best brand of the year. A newish brand but already supplying a full collection of cut and sew pieces. I’ve loved the custom shirting utilising panels and different fabrics throughout and of course their Jogger pants have been one of the highlights of the summer months.
Best new brand
Villainous Visard. Even though this great UK brand has been around for a few years it’s been a while now since its first collection. This year’s selection felt like a restart for Binz and his brand that you could argue its starts from here. Even though it’s mostly t-shirts the whole range was on point and received a great reaction from the Urban Industry customers without us blowing the trumpet that hard.
Haven’t been to the cinema much this year.. So Alpha Papa, the Alan Partridge film was pretty funny and I caught that on a flight recently.
I like a lot of different music and I can’t pick one out on its own but I’ve liked the new Laura Marling album, The Nine Inch Nails 'Hesitation Marks' album and the one from my old faithfuls, Pearl Jam.
A first visit to Las Vegas back in February was pretty good but it was pipped by the family holiday out to Canada where we hooked up with all the relatives, visited Niagra Falls, met up with my good friend in Toronto and spent a couple of days on a remote island on a fresh water lake. Properly back to nature!
