The long standing undisputed champion of contemporary streetwear are on top of their game this year. Effortlessly popular as usual, with a spring range longer than most, many of the new lines are available right here at Urban Industry. It is no mean feat maintaining a brand’s relevance for upwards of thirty years. Every now and again Stussy produce a limited edition, high profile collaboration collection. We’ve seen the Yo! MTV Raps range last year, the Herschel Bags collaboration and Stussy’s efforts with Parra a few years back. This spring to continue this portfolio is the Peter Tosh collection.
Peter Tosh is arguably the unsung hero of the reggae and Rastafari movements. He was one of the core and longest serving members of The Wailers along with Bunny Wailer and of course Bob himself. They started the band together in 1963 in Kingston, Jamaica. Over the Wailer’s storied almost 20 year history, with another 15 members, changed reggae forever and brought it to a far wider – global – audience.
This capsule collection pays tribute to him and his life, using a handful of his most iconic photographs. Stussy has interpreted these on this range of t-shirts and brought two powerhouses of culture together in their own inimitable style. It's going to take a lot to knock Stussy from the top spot this year.
