Saucony are one of those brands that we’ve been guilty of sleeping on for all too long here at Urban Industry. That all changes for Summer 2013 as we’ve gotten our finger out and finally got round to showing the American sportswear brand some much-deserved love. I’ve always been a fan of their retro silhouettes, and the Saucony Grid 9000 has always stood out for me as the pick of the bunch. Originally released in 1994, the Grid 9000 featured the ground-breaking Saucony Grid Cushioning System that uses woven Hytrel filaments in a grid configuration that centres the heel on impact, for a superior blend of cushioning and stability.
True sneakers fans know what’s up with this shoe and some on-point collaborations with the likes of Bodega, Sneaker Freaker and Packer Shoes over the years have cemented the Grid 9000’s reputation as one of the great trainer silhouettes of modern times. Saucony has gone about reissuing this timeless shoe in myriad of cool colourways in the last few years. For Summer 2013 we’ve managed to get our hands on some killer iterations, my personal favourite being the Fog Blue colourway.
