Old meets new in PUMA’s latest drop, featuring the classic R698 running silhouette and the shoes modernised 698 IGNITE design.
The early 90’s runner has made a huge impact in the lifestyle market ever since it was re-issued back in 2009. The shoes form fitting shape and simplistic design caught the attention of sneaker heads across the globe, becoming the focus of various collaborations and high profile mainline releases. The R698 was also the first shoe to house PUMA’s unique Trinomic cushioning technology when it was first released, which features a hexagonal construction in the sole to evenly distribute weight during movement for optimal comfort and support.
For it’s latest release, the R698 has been made up in a predominantly black colour way, featuring hits of violet, aqua and neon green through the entirety of the upper and down on to the sole unit. Constructed from a soft nubuck and synthetic mesh mix, we also see reflective detailing across the vamp. The updated 698 IGNITE offers up an innovative take on the classic runner with a lightweight open mesh construction throughout the entirety of the upper. The 698 IGNITE arrives in a contrasting white colour way, however features matching colour detailing on the branding, heel and sole. The new style sees modern updates applied, including fused uppers and a lightweight ‘IGNITE’ foam sole.
