2013 is barely a fortnight old and yet we’ve already seen a handful of new brands appear on Urban Industry. Chief among these is Japanese heritage footwear brand Onitsuka Tiger. We have received our first shipment of Tigers here ahead of their parent company ASICS, who should be arriving here anytime soon. Yes, before you ask – we will be getting the Gel Lyte IIIs!
Onitsuka Tiger has always been our radar here at UI HQ. Classic models such as the Mexico 66 and Ultimate 81s have endured for years in countless numbers of colourways and makeups. For Spring 2013, Onitsuka are delving into their archives to bring us some new spins on classic models. The Colorado Eighty Five silhouette draws heavily on earlier trail-inspired running shoes, and the chunkier rubber outsole is testament to this. Some killer colourways have dropped on the site, and we’re quietly confident that this could be one of the sleeper releases of the year.
We’ve also taken delivery of the Corair Vintage. The Onitsuka Tiger Corsair Vintage is based on the shoes that kicked-started the jogging boom of the 1970`s, with increased cushioning, full-length midsole, and thicker heel for greater shock absorption. The guys have Tiger have reissued these in a great series of colourways for Spring 13.
