Jordan brand continue their yearly Holiday tradition, as they set themselves to re-release one of the most iconic Air Jordan models of all time – The Air Jordan XI, reworked in the ’72-10′ release.
The shoe pays homage to Chicago Bulls record breaking 72-10 season back in 1995/1996, which lead to Michael Jordan winning another championship ring, and solidified both his and the Bulls place in the history books. The design is inspired by his Airness’ desire to bring more of a formal look to the court, applying a shiny patent leather to the upper, a first for an athletic shoe, and combining it with a tumbled leather and a Microfiber suede to create a timeless look.
The 72-10’s colour way pays homage to the historical season, with tonal black adorning the upper, accented with subtle hits of crimson red on the Jumpman heel and tongue detailing. The upper sits on top of a contrasting stark white midsole and icy translucent outsole for a clean finish. Final touches include an embroidered 23 on the heel and tag within the tongue that reads “72-10 QUALITY INSPIRED BY THE GREATEST SEASON LED BY THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER.”, a final nod to one of the most defining moments in NBA history.
