Following whispers and a wave of teaser images floating around online last month, we can now take a closer look at the New Balance C series that has been designed specifically for cycling.
With brands like ICNY successfully producing fashion focused reflective apparel and receiving a great reception from it, there has definitely been a calling for someone to step forward with footwear that is both functional and stylish for the everyday commuter. Seemingly New Balance have answered those calls as they introduce the new C series, which features reworked versions of classic silhouettes that cater to the needs of cyclists.
They kick off the series with two introductory models – the 996c and 620c, which take the same shape as the classic 996 and 660 silhouettes. You may be wondering what constitutes a cycling shoe? In this case the two shapes come equipped with a reinforced forefoot for protection and a higher density rubber outsole to prevent the foot flexing over the pedals. A unique tongue pocket allows the laces to be safely tucked away; avoiding any risk of catching them in the pedals or spokes and the neoprene inner sock gives the you a secure fit when riding. The 996c features clever use of reflective detailing as it is applied to the brands N logo, so to act as a bike reflector would and helping you stay visible. The 620c features perforations on the branding and heel to control temperature and allow for breathability during movement.
The New Balance C series seamlessly bridges the gap between lifestyle and function. Colour ways are kept fairly simple as they apply tonal black and tonal greys to each shoe, so its clear that style is a key focus here. Whether you’re walking through the city or cycling to work, the New Balance C series is a great all round shoe and we are excited to have them arriving here at Urban Industry shortly!
