Helly Hansen x Urban Industry for the RNLI
Earlier this year we learnt that one of our brands, Helly Hansen, had announced a partnership with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution to help save lives at sea around the British coastline. It’s been 20 years since the RNLI did a full upgrade to their All-Weather kit and Helly Hansen have brought in customised lines from their Ægir Offshore Collection. This kit is made up from ultra-waterproof 4-ply and 5-ply materials and uses Helly Tech® Professional double ocean composite membrane. These developments are a result of the extensive research and development with professionals around the globe, including Team MAPFRE from the most recent Volvo Ocean Race.
As well as the new All-Weather lifeboat crew gear, Helly Hansen will also supply corporate uniforms and lifeguard kit for RNLI staff.
To celebrate the fantastic level of support for a well loved and admired British institution from one of our brands we thought we would celebrate the professionalism, courage and fortitude of our own local RNLI lifeboat team, based less than 1 mile from our store here in Eastbourne.
Our own Eastbourne RNLI was founded in 1822, 2 years before the RNLI itself was founded meaning we have almost 200 years of history with a life saving at sea organisation in our home town.
Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates over 230 lifeboat stations and has more than 140 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends purely on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 137,000 lives.
To that end here at Urban Industry we have designed a T-Shirt with Helly Hansen to help celebrate this great partnership between a world leading ocean equipment brand and a national life saving charity. The t-shirt depicts the local coastline and county of Sussex that our store resides in and the English Channel facing coast with the white cliff headlands at Beachy Head.
The t-shirt utilises a Helly Hansen Premium 100% cotton blank, designed on the south coast and printed 15 miles away from our store here in Sussex.
We will be donating 100% of the profits made from the sale of these limited edition t-shirts to the Eastbourne RNLI team. We hope you like our collaboration t-shirt with Helly Hansen and help us support such a worthy charity in purchasing one.
