Crooks and Castles is a brand that was stocked at Urban Industry long before I ever darkened their doorway. For a good few seasons it served us well, but due to distribution issues in the UK it kind of slowly drifted into oblivion for a couple of seasons. Fast forward to 2013 and thanks to the new team handling the brand on our shores, we’re delighted to welcome Crooks back to the fold. I’ve always had a soft spot for the brand – there’s a certain thuggish edge to their stuff coupled with a ghetto-fabulous ostentatiousness that really makes Crooks and Castles stand out amongst their peers.
For Summer 2013 we’ve ditched the sleeves and gone heavy on vests and tank tops from Crooks. We’re not talking about no lazy ‘slap a logo on a cotton vest’ type pieces here, more contrast paisley print, bandana-print sections and straight-up custom mesh basketball jerseys. I’m lucky enough to be heading off to Egypt in a week or so and I figured the 40°c+ conditions weren’t optimal t-shirt wearing weather. That’s why I went in on the Trece Basketball Jersey (£44.99) to keep me cool in the desert. Alongside recent offerings from Grind London, I’m delighted to see the humble basketball jersey make a reappearance in streetwear collections for the Summer.
Elsewhere we have some interesting cut and sew options from the American brand. The Crooks and Castles Sidewinder Polo Shirt (£59.99) is pure Paulie Gualtieri, and the Crooks and Castles Avant Paisley T-shirt in Black (£59.99) is a work of patterned beauty. If you’ve not checked out Crooks and Castles for a while, then the Summer 2013 collection is a great place to jump back onboard. We offer free UK delivery here at Urban Industry on all Crooks orders, and if you’re not happy with your purchase then we also offer free UK returns too!
