Sperry and the Sperry Topsiders have been made since 1935 providing the very first, authentic boat shoes. At the helm, Paul Sperry noticed that his dog didn't slip over when running across ice. A look at his paws revealed hundreds of tiny cracks and cuts going in all directions. These wave-like grooves became the inspiration for Mr. Sperry's patent, called Razor-Siping. Sperry has used this sole unit ever since to keep people stuck to their deck of their boats!
