Friday 15/02/13 - 12.03PM
We take a peek inside Nike's top-secret Area 72 and see what kind of extraterrestrial activity is going down!
The Nike 2013 All-Star Area 72 Quick Strike pack is released in February to celebrate basketball’s mid-season weekend in Houston, Texas. The National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Weekend is a weekend festival held every February that consists of a variety of basketball events, exhibitions, and performances culminating in the NBA All-Star Game held on Sunday night. This East Coast vs West Coast contest sees some of the brightest stars of the NBA go head-to-head in a battle for supremacy. LeBron on the East Coast, Kobe holding it down for the West – this is guaranteed to be an epic showdown!
To celebrate the weekend, Nike are releasing the All-Star ‘Area 72’ pack consisting of out of this world Quickstrike versions of a Blazer, Vandal, Lunar Force 1, Barkley Posite Max and Air Force Max 2013. Infused with galactic textures, reflectivity and glow-in-the-dark highlights, the Area 72 pack is one of the most eye-catching releases we’ve ever seen here at Urban Industry. Not since last year’s Nike Foamposite One Galaxy have we had such an eye-popping release arrive here at Urban Industry. Sure, there’s not a massive call for true basketball trainers here in the UK, but you can only marvel at what Nike has done here. Utilising the fictitious Area 72 as well as the Nike Raygun character, Nike has created a collection that has nods towards 1950’s sci-fi while managing to incorporate some top-end technology in the shoes’ production as well.
In their own words Nike take us through this pack – “Deep in Area 72’s testing facility, five of Nike’s iconic shoes have been blasted with galactic textures, infused with reflectivity and powered up with glow-in-the-dark highlighting. The collection includes the Nike Blazer Mid, Nike Vandal, Nike Lunar Force 1, Nike Barkley Posite Max and the Nike Air Force Max 2013. All five styles feature a custom galaxy print on the collar lining that also appears on Nike Basketball’s performance shoes for Houston. United under the watchful guidance and gravity-defying jetpack of the Nike Raygun character (who appears on the tongue of each style), these five shoes will change Houston—and our world—forever”.
The Nike 2013 All-Star ‘Area 72’ pack will release of on Friday 15th February 2013 at 23:59 GMT. Strictly limited to 1 pair per style per customer. All multiple orders will be cancelled. US customers - We are a UK based company, price is in UK Pounds (£GBP). There will be a huge demand for these shoes, so please bear with us if the site runs a bit slower than usual. Good luck!
